UR NOT A HERO mixes classic Elevator Action style 2D platforming with a Gears of War cover system (kinda). It's mainly about sliding around on the floor, shooting people and trying to do it all with as much 80's low budget action movie style as you can.
As the title suggests, ur not a hero. If you get shot, you die. Infact, you have few advantages over your enemies at all. The game isn't particularly forgiving right now!
IT'S A FREE ALPHA
UNAH is in early alpha right now, and it's freely available to download and play from the link below! Hurrah! But, please be a bit gentle, it's still rough work, the levels and interface are all placemarker for a minute and will get finished later. Right now we've focussed on the player characters, the scenarios and the enemy AI. It's a long way from what we want it to be, so if you do play the game, please do hit us up with feedback, it only helps us make it better!
10 levels with randomly generated enemies and objectives.
5 playable characters, each with their own abilities.
18 unlockable powerups (complete challenges to unlock)
Randomly generated scene objects and enemy positions/patrols
Randomly generated backstories and names for characters
5 different mission types
There's alot more to come in the final version too!
Z - Slide (hold to stay in cover).
X - Shoot. Hold Z & X to shoot from cover.
C - Special Moves.
Space - Grenades/Mines.
Oh BTW, the game uses a font called silkscreen, which you can grab here for free, if you don't have it installed, some things are going to look a bit messy. It's also included in the zip, just drag it into your windows/fonts folder. Yes I'll fix it so you don't have to do this, no not now.
Some people have already said some very nice things about Ur Not a Hero, and that's been super encouraging for us, you can check out @JonPolson's piece about UNAH on indiegames.com
TomSykes also said some very cool stuff about about us over on PC Gamer, which pretty much made my day.
Also had some lovely coverage on CheerfulGhost.com, I'm actually doing an interview with @Jdodson from the site today, so look out for that!
Finally, some awesome people have recored themselves playing and put it up on the YooChoob. This is sweet, not only because we get to see people squealing with delight at badly drawn carnage, but also because it lets us see how real people actually play the game, and what we can do to improve it. Please if you can take the time to record it, you're a legend. Links out to the videos are:
